In preparation for the big day, I printed out the words "Happy Father's Day" on 3 separate pages. The kids colored their separate signs, the thought being each child (Tucket included) would carry a sign in a small procession through the house Sunday morning. Best laid plans.... Tucket was all over the place. Mae danced around shouting "happy, happy." Jack acted shy and hid behind his drawings. We also compiled a list of reasons we love daddy: he makes pancakes on Saturday; he plays pirates with me; he puts me to bed; and my absolute favorite, from Mae, in her own words, "Daddy home." Jack and Mae are grateful for a daddy who is home at night to have dinner, bathe, play, and read them stories. I am so thankful for a husband who is a helpmate in every single way. Not only is he present in body, he is present in spirit, caring for us, bearing the load of parenting and housework, and loving us sacrificially. WE LOVE YOU, Daddy!
