Baby Blue Jay

We often feel like we live in the wild right in the heart of Charlotte. The owls are mating in our backyard. The deer are leaping the small creek in the neighborhood. And the baby birds are leaving their nests. Each year, one baby bird gets stranded in our yard. We wouldn't even notice the poor soul save for Tucket's aerobic activity encircling the helpless creature. She jumps, she nudges, she tries to start the chase. Meanwhile, she is being dive bombed by mama and daddy blue jay. We tried to keep her out of the backyard for the remainder of the afternoon and evening in hope that the bird would hop away. In the morning, I peeked out my sink window and couldn't see it. I shouldn't have celebrated too soon. Jack spotted the bird not far from its original position. That's 2 birds and 1 chipmunk for Tucket, zero for mother nature.
